LONG LIVE THE MEMORIES WE MADE

TO ALL OF OUR CUSTOMERS

As Taylor once adjusted the lyrics, I will now borrow them as it’s fitting. It was the end on an era. After ten amazing years, I am closing Dixie Grace. What a decade!

Between my health, rising costs, mistakes I made along the way, and the combined stress and strain of it all - I am opting to take a step back from retail to regain my footing and fix all the things that broke along the way. And y’all - I’ll own the fact that things broke. Mainly me, I broke. But break they indeed did.

I am going to take the next few months to spend time with my family and friends, touch grass, enjoy the holidays, and just live. I need to do some work on me and my personal life before I can ever think about showing up for you guys the way you deserve and right now - full transparency - I’m still struggling to show up for myself day in and day out amongst the wreckage of the last couple of years after being sick for so long. I finally went back to Memphis a couple of weeks ago and got to sit in the memories of my dad and grandfathers and just listened. For the first time in a long time, the fog of my brain is clearing and I am finding my way again. If you’ve been with me through this journey, you know what that means both to me and for me. I just have some work to do before I feel confident in what I’m offering the world.

With that being said! Here’s the specifics:

  • Open Orders - you guys BLEW us away in out final week. We are making and shipping all Orders currently. Thank you for your patience and grace as we work on them. We expect to have all Orders ready for pickup or shipped by Friday, November 6th.
  • If you’re missing something or I owe you something - please text me at 618-910-0097!! We are overwhelmed at the outpouring of messages, emails, texts, and calls of support. We are working through these as quickly a possible but we are overwhelmed with them currently. We will get back to everyone as fast as we can but right now our focus is on making, packing, and shipping Orders.
  • Christmas - I WILL be at Sparklefest in Columbia in November and at Forever Vintage Market in Belleville in December. I have so much fun at these events with you guys!! This will be the only Christmas anything I’m doing this year. I’m going to enjoy the holidays after a decade of retail has consumed them.

I am not interested in selling Dixie Grace. I’m not going under a noncompete agreement and that wouldn’t be fair to a buyer. I’ve been asked. I’m passing on those opportunities. I’m not ready to close the door on retail completely but I do need a break from it.

I want to add this note because in the national industry where I know many brand and large boutique business owners, I’ve watched similar messages come out with closing posts weekly for years now. The market has shifted. Prices have shifted. Manufacturing has shifted. None of us are immune as owners to what you yourselves as consumers are experiencing. Less costs more. Less quality. Less product. Less service. Costs more.

What I have personally not experienced as many of my fellow owners have is mean customers. I’ve not been cussed, degraded, and spoken to like someone grew seven heads. I grew up in Memphis and I’m not scared of confrontation  BUT I haven’t experienced that and I want to say thank you to ALL of you for that. Some of you have been frustrated but you haven’t been hateful. That speaks to the caliper of our customers!

Thank you to everyone who worked, sweat, bled, cried, and loved Dixie Grace as much as I did. What we built was incredible and I only can feel so much pride and satisfaction having the gift Dixie Grace was in my life.

Taylor sang “it was the end of an era, the start of an age.” There is something new in the horizon that is still taking shape in my mind but it’s there and when the new chapter is ready, you’ll be the first to know. Let’s give Dixie Grace her moment for now because she was never really mine, she was yours.

Thank YOU for everything.

My cup runneth over.

Katie
